Benelli is one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers in the world and is also the oldest Italian motorcycle manufacturer in business. Established in 1911, despite the difficulties encountered, including wars and economic crises, it has practically never stopped producing motorcycles and scooters from its facilities based in Pesaro, Italy.

Since 2005 Benelli became part of the Qianjiang Group, which is one of the largest motor vehicle manufacturers in China producing over 1.5 million vehicles per annum. The financial backing and investments of the Qianjiang Group assures the future of Benelli and is enabling investment in modern facilities & systems and an extensive new model launch program which will include off road bikes, smaller capacity road bikes and new scooter models in addition to the current motorcycle range based around the 1130 and 899cc triples.

Megelli started as a dream of Barry Hall, the founder of SLD UK, in 2005. SLD UK combined their vision with the capabilities of the best 2 wheel design house and production and quality engineering company in the UK. Manufacturing facilities have been set up in China operating under Taiwanese management and careful guidance from UK experts.
